April 21, 2014 Babb
Lumber Company opens a mill outlet store at its Ringgold, GA plant for
sales of pressure treated and untreated pine lumber to homeowners,
farmers, and contractors. Babb Lumber has been "wholesale only" in
recent years, but has reopened to public sales in response to local
demand for quality treated lumber products produced in compliance with
the AWPA Standards for heavy duty applications and long service life.
Not all treated wood products available at building
supply dealers meet AWPA standards, some are "light weight" products not
produced in compliance with AWPA Standards. Look for the AWPA logo on
the end tags when buying pressure treated wood. Yes, it does cost a bit
more to produce in compliance with AWPA Standards and the heavier
treatment results in heavier pieces of treated wood, but the additional
cost is small compared to the lifetime benefits.
The Babb Lumber mill outlet store offers a full range
of pressure treated wood products including:
- Lumber and decking of all sizes for outdoor deck
construction.
- 4x4 and 4x6 and 6x6 timbers
- Round fence posts
- Fence boards, both rough sawn and dressed
- Rough sawn 4x4 and 4x6 and 6x6 and 8x8 fence
posts
- Rough sawn lumber of all sizes
- Borate treated wood for sill plates and other
indoor applications
The outlet store also offers untreated pine lumber for
framing applications and untreated rough sawn lumber for farm
applications.
