Babb Lumber Company provides home solar systems designed for DIY installation. Our solar systems are not grid tie systems which means permits and installation contractors are not required. Instead of feeding surplus solar production back to the grid, our systems store surplus solar production in a battery bank for later use. System configuration is:

• Solar panels feed power to the battery bank
• The battery bank feeds power to selected appliances
• The battery bank can also be charged from an AC outlet when needed

The system remains active even when the electric grid is down providing backup power during outages. The extra charging from the AC grid is controlled by a timer for night time charging or can be turned on manually on cloudy winter days. These systems will pay back their cost in electric bill savings while providing reliable backup power.

These systems are ideal for the following appliances:
• Computers and accessories
• Refrigerators and freezers
• Lamps, device chargers
• Vacuum cleaners and tools
• Air conditioners and heat pumps that are 120volt inverter driven
• Not recommended for older air conditioners with high starting amps
• Larger 240volt systems coming soon.
